Xargo

This 35 mt schooner, XARGO, is a luxury and elegant sailing yacht launched in 1976 by the Spanish shipyard Astilleros Armon and designed by the French architect Michel Bigoin for the Spanish entrepreneur Francisco Sitges. She is the first of a series of four large luxury sailing yachts built for Sitges in the ‘70s and ‘80s for long cruises with his family. It was a very ambitious project for its time: a boat longer than 35 meters and stable in all winds.

Excellent sail plan

Thanks to the excellent organization of the fractional rig (with a sail plan of 778 sqm upwind and 924 sqm downwind), XARGO can be handled with a small crew in spite of its size. Both the sail plan and layout were very advanced for its time, with a large exterior living area and sun decks, a protected and welcoming bridge deck, a dual interior living area, spacious cabins (some of them with a third bed) and the master suite amidships, a large kitchen, and the crew cabin with separate entrance.

A well-accessorized sailing yacht

Apart from being an elegant and well-built yacht, XARGO conveys the utmost care for details, as can be seen in its interior finishing and on-board systems. Purposely designed for long ocean cruises, it is one of a kind thanks to its interior and exterior livability that paved the way for Maxi yachts in the following decades. This 35 mt schooner is also very accessorized with: 3 generators, water maker, air-conditioning, bow thruster, dishwasher, washing machine, bathroom staircase. In 2002, draught was lowered to 2.75 mt and new teak was installed in the stern area, while the teak was replaced on the remaining areas (bow and deckhouse) between 2004 and 2008. View brochure
