M/Y “BULLY”

“BULLY” is a tugboat built in 1965 by the Humber St Andrews Ltd shipyard in England for the British Navy. She was launched under the name Motorman, which she kept until 1984 when she was renamed Anglianman, then Clevelandman in 1988, and ETA of Lowestoft in 1989. She was originally a push and rescue tugboat with a welded steel structure, two rudders, and two Lister Blackstone engines of 396 HP. In 2003, she was purchased by an owner who transformed her into a yacht through a complete refit, divided into three distinct phases. The first phase focused on the mechanics, the hull, and the replacement of the superstructure with a new deckhouse.

During the refit, the engine room was completely refurbished, including the revision of the generators and the installation of a new one, the electrical system was overhauled, the air conditioning system was installed, and new navigation and communication equipment, as well as a crane for the tender, were added. The interiors were redesigned and built from scratch in bleached teak, featuring 3 cabins, 3 bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, a spacious kitchen, and a fully independent crew area with 3 berths and a bathroom. The exteriors were entirely transformed with a new sunbathing area at the stern, an outdoor dining area, and the construction of a second deck for housing water toys.

REFIT 2010 – 2014

From 2010 to 2014, after being purchased by the current owner, “BULLY” underwent a second full refit, which included redesign and reconstruction in compliance with the latest RINA and Lloyd class standards. “BULLY” was completely stripped to reorganize the spaces, resulting in the decision to extend the upper deck towards the stern to create a large terrace, enlarge the owner’s cabin as well as the area beneath it, and open the starboard side with a hydraulic platform for sea access. Additionally, two internal bulkheads and some of the side plates of the hull were replaced. A teak overlay was installed on the Main Deck and the Upper Deck, and the engine room was completely restored: all the hydraulic systems for fresh water, seawater, and wastewater, as well as the fuel and oil lines and related systems, were redesigned and renewed, preserving the original style. The entire electrical system was radically transformed, as was the helm station, which remains in the original deckhouse. The electronics were updated with the latest technologies, including 3D navigation.

Inside, the Main Deck features a windowed sitting area crafted with high-quality cabinetry following the shape of the deckhouse. The interiors are cozy, intimate, and strongly nautical in character. The dining area is located outdoors on the Main Deck. A large floor hatch provides access to the guest sleeping area through a comfortable staircase finished in teak and leather. The kitchen was completely renovated and is connected to the exterior via a custom-made watertight door.

“BULLY” is excellently equipped with two 50 kW generators, hot/cold air conditioning, Furuno electronics including radar, autopilot, two plotters, and color GPS with cartography, a hydraulic gangway, a sunbathing area on the flybridge, command stations on both the Flybridge and the Main Deck, bathrooms with shower boxes and a bidet in the owner’s bathroom, electric toilets, a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, two refrigerators, a dishwasher, and a glass-ceramic hob, as well as a washer-dryer and a firefighting system.
