Lagoon Yachts
Lagoon Yachts offer an innovative range of catamarans that are famed for their high-quality design, construction and performance. Born in 1984 as a part of Jeanneau Technologies Avancees (JTA), the legendary workshop for the development of high-tech completion prototypes, Lagoon Catamarans were quickly recognised for their single-hull and multihull off-shore racing boats.
In 1984 as a part of Jeanneau Technologies Avancees (JTA), the legendary workshop for the development of high-tech completion prototypes, Lagoon Catamarans were quickly recognised for their single-hull and multihull off-shore racing boats. Lagoon also worked on construction of the trimarans for the Kevin Costner film ‘Waterworld’.
Between 1987 and 1996, Lagoon Yachts created a huge following through their launch of a special generation of offshore cruising catamarans for both private ownership and luxury yacht chartering. A first generation of catamarans was born with the Lagoon 55, 47, 57 and 67: owners’ boats for offshore cruising. The Lagoon 55, 47, 57 and 67 successfully fused JTA’s revolutionary technology for the development of racing multihulls with the comfort and openness that leisurely cruisers and holiday makers crave. Lagoon Catamarans have since been sought after for their exceptional design, manoeuvrability and spaciousness. The Beneteau group took over the Jeanneau shipyards in 1996 and handed over the development of the Lagoon Yachts brand, a legacy of its acquisition, to Construction Navale Bordeaux. The use of high-tech composite was implemented in the shipyard.
The new Lagoon 52 marked a major evolution in the design of cruising catamarans. Rigging with the mast step further aft significantly modified methods of navigation with a self-tacking foresail and more efficient mainsails.
