ELAN MARINE – ELAN 40

C/2357/V

Cantiere ELAN MARINE

History

ELAN MARINE history began in former Yugoslavia in 1949, and more precisely in Begunje (now Slovenia) with the production of small boats. The first successes date back to the ‘50s and ’60, thanks to the exports to the USA. However, we still have to wait for the next decade for sailboats production to take off. In 1983, the Elan 31 deisgned by Jakopin brothers (J&J studio) was a real turning point: in fact it was Elan Marine’s first commercial success. The collaboration with Jakopin brothers lasts until 1994; the last of the many models designed by them was the Elan 431. After the war in former Yugoslavia, Elan Marine started to collaborate with designer Rob Humphreys, who managed to convey the best spirit of the cruiser/racer that sealed Elan success. In the last twenty years, Elan Marine further consolidated its success; in 2004 the builder introduced a new range of boats for long cruises, the Impression, that give a modern twist to the deck-saloon. We also have the Performance line, with 5 models (from 210 to 450), dedicated to cruising-racing models. Elan Marine is a very appreciated brand in the sector of large-scale production, which owes a big part of its success to its propensity towards innovation.

Elan 40

The Elan 40 GINEVRA was launched in 2004 with white hull, 2 cabins with bow Master cabin and 2 bathrooms with shower booth. In 2021 the exhaust riser and the O-ring of the saildrive were replaced, while in 2020 a new lazy bag was added. In 2019, Dyform rigging was replaced and in 2018 maintenance works were completed on the mast and sails (mainsail & jib). In 2017 a new boiler was added and the saildrive cap was replaced, gas hobs were replaced in 2016, seacocks replaced in 2015 and, in 2013, the engine was disembarked and zero-timed. GINEVRA is also well equipped with: rollbar with two solar panels, Diesel heating system, water maker, GPS interfaced with radar, removable table in cockpit, Hi-Fi system with outdoor speakers and DVD player, LED lights and indoor lighting, computer interface and multifunction display, swim ladder. VIEW BROCHURE
The Elan 40 was born out of a Rob Humphreys’ design, whi managed to come up with something new within the strict IMS rules. Compared to her competitors, this Slovenian boat has a more forward position (Humphreys’ signature trait), a more pronounced stern rake and less flat shapes on bow and stern. The Elan 40’s volume distribution is a traditional one, with twin stern cabins and a V-shaped bow cabin. One of the key features of the Elan 40 is her large saloon. The chart table is well utilized, and not neglected like on other boats of this size. The galley is very spacious. The Elan 40 is an interesting boat for two reasons: she has innovative water lines, as well as a great quality/price ratio.
