Modello BALTIC 38

Baltic 38

The Baltic 38, in production from 1982 to 1989, is a boat that has always aroused great interest from all offshore sailing enthusiasts; its construction in sandwich in fiberglass and balsa guarantees the considerable weight saving, as well as the great rigidity. In the areas subjected to greater stresses, the structure is reinforced with layers of unidirectional fibers oriented in the same direction as the stresses. The deck equipment is well laid out and the materials used are of value.

Cockpit & Interior

The cockpit of the Baltic 38 is single, aft, and the main sail separates it from the descent that introduces below deck. The rudder is a wheel and the helmsman has an anatomical and very comfortable seat. The halyards are partly at mast foot and some are led back to the small central cockpit for maneuvers. Inside, there are three completely separate rooms. Aft of the descent ladder, on the left you can access the owner's cabin; the bed is a double, very spacious. On the right of this cabin there is a door that leads to the bathroom, complete with every equipment. The other door to the bathroom takes you back to the height of the descent ladders. On the right is the chart table, in an excellent position, separated from the rest of the boat and with a bulkhead panel already prepared for the assembly of electronic instruments. The whole area below deck is covered in hand painted and polished teak.

Cantiere BALTIC YACHT

Baltic Yachts

The historic Finnish shipyard Baltic Yachts was founded in 1973 by five employees of the Nautor's Swan shipyard who wanted to freely experiment with new and ultramodern construction methods. The basic philosophy has been from the beginning to create extremely light boats, but without any compromise in terms of safety and strength. Using the most modern materials and cutting-edge techniques, Baltic Yachts has managed to create boats that are faster and more comfortable at sea over time.

The most famous models

The first Baltic Yacht dates back to 1974, with the launch of the Baltic 46, which immediately marked a great novelty in the hull construction scene thanks to the sandwich construction technique, with unidirectional rather than bidirectional fiber layering. This positive experience then continued with the 1975 Baltic 33. After the purchase of Hollming, from 1980 to 1991, the shipyard regained its independence after being reopened by some employees, who started the extensive use of the new fibers, Kevlar and carbon in the first place. In 1995 the shipyard produced the first boat entirely made in carbon.

From 2013 onwards...

In 2013, the majority of the Finnish shipyard was acquired by the German group Ottobock, whose owner, Hans Georg Näder, has always been the owner of Baltic yachts (his Baltic 152 D Pink Gin, about 46 meters, sloop-rigged, classic lines , sumptuous habitability on deck and warm and spacious interiors).
