To feel on board like home

  The Swedish Hallberg-Rassy brand is specialized in the construction of large sailing boats, suitable for cruises and long sea journeys. The main principles of the Hallberg-Rassy company are: comfort and safety on board, two essential features in every kind of boat, especially in those of big sizes.

The brand story

  The story of the Hallberg-Rassy brand started in 1972 when the Harry Hallberg’s company and the Cristoph Rassy’s one decide to set aside their past rivalry and create what will become one of the most important boating brands worldwide. The first boat born out of their partnership was the Monsum 31, launched in 1974. The boat had a great success and the shipyard produced 904 units of this model from the 1974 to the 1982.   In 1988 the Argentine designer and sailor German Frers joined the team as Head of Design, that the shipyard took off. From now on, Hallberg-Rassy boats become the queens of the Cruising sector; not only these boats are safe and suitable for Ocean Sailing, but they are also very performing.

The “alliance” with the North Sea

  The Hallberg-Rassy headquarters is located 100 km north of Goghernburg, on the west Swedish coast, and it manufactured more than 9,400 boats. Its proximity to the North Sea played an important role in the shipyard production: every boat is tested in this territorial water, often in bad weather, and they overcome all the tests. The Hallberg-Rassy sailing boats are built to guarantee high performance and safety even in uncomfortable weather conditions, that are really common in this geographical area.

Some of the most famous boats

  Among the most famous boats produced by the shipyard, there is the Hallberg-Rassy 41 of which the brand produced 100 units between 1975 and 1981. This model is a mix of an offshore cruiser and an elegant and equipped sailing boat.   Another well-know model is the Hallberg-Rassy 38, created between 1976 and 1977, famous for its blue stripe around the hull.   The elegant Hallberg-Rassy 352 was launched in 1978 and it was a commercial success: the shipyard produced more than 800 units between the end of the ‘70s and the 1989.   When German Frers joined the group, the first boat designed by him was the Hallberg-Rassy 45 (1988) followed by the Hallberg-Rassy 34 (1990) of which the production went on until the end of 2005.   The Hallberg-Rassy 43, launched in 2001, gained a lot of International awards:
  • Yatch of the year in Germany;
  • Best Midsize Cruiser in United States;
  • Best overall Cruisingboat in United States;
  • Import Boat of the Year in Australia.
  Hallberg Rassy and, currently, 100% of the Group’s companies belong to Rassy family. Today, the shipyard produces 37-64 footers with central cockpit and models between 9.40 and 13 mt with stern cockpit.
