The Bruno Abbate brand is a symbol of the Italian shipbuilding industry and its evolution.

The Bruno Abbate shipyard is today well-known as Primatist (from its most important production line) and it is specialized in the construction of motor boats and motor yachts. Abbate is one of the Italian shipyards that moved with the nautical field, embracing the evolution of the era and realizing boats and yachts up with the times.

The brand’s story

The shipyard was created in 1873 by Giuseppe Abbate, a young man passionate about boating, close to the Como Lake, in the North of Italy. At the really beginning, it produced fishing boats for the local activities. After the Second World War, Giuseppe’s son, Guido Abbate, founded the shipyard of Portezza, where he started to produce motor boats and the first motor yachts.   During the ’40s the shipyard created innovative motor boats and in the ’50s it concentrated its production in realizing boats of the line “Ribot”, specific for tourism.   In the ‘60s the brand Abbate is well-known in Italy and abroad, even because its boats won the Centomiglia del Lario competitions and some international speed records.   In 1977 the brand Bruno Abbate was founded and the shipyard started to produce fiberglass boats and yachts.   During the ‘80s the first Primatist yacht was produced: Primatist 23’ obtained an immediate success and the shipyard sold 750 yachts of this line.   In 1995 the shipyard launchs the G line with its first boats: G25′; G29′ ; G33′.   This is followed by recognitions in sport: in 1996 the Primatist with Maserati engine marked the international speed record.

The ‘00s

In 2002, at Villa d’Este, the first Primatist motor yacht with electro-hydraulically sunroof was presented and it was a success. The following collaboration with the designer Sergio Pininfarina will make the Primtist line a symbol of style and elegance. G70’ Pininfarina is a new generation’s motor yacht and the most important yacht of the brand’s story.
