Dufour 455 GL

The Dufour 455 GL is the shipyard’s interpretation of a sheer cruiser. It is a boat with traditional lines and shapes, but very practical and tested. Umberto Felci designed the hull, while interiors were designed by Patrick Roseo. The Dufour 455 GL is a concrete boat that resists to passing fashions, with a fast hull that allows to reach good average good speeds both while sailing and with engine. There are two versions, with three or four cabins. The 4 cabin version is more suitable for large families and/or for charter. Unlike Performance range (racing boats), that have lighter and faster hulls, Grand Large models are built in a traditional way. This unit was launched in 2005 with 4 cabins, 3 bathrooms, teak in the cockpit and in stern area. In 2020 a new outdoor electronics dashboard was installed, while in 2017 a new full batten sail was added. This Hanse 455 GL is also equipped with two fridges (one of which is in the cockpit), solar panels on the Bimini Top, Max Prop thrusters with 3 blades, Hi-Fi system with outdoor speakers. The brand story

The Dufour Yachts story is linked to the first polyester usage in the nautical field. During the ’50, this new material started to be used in the construction of yachts and sailing boats. After a long study, the shipyard’s founder, Michel Dufour, designed in 1964 “Sylphe” which is a transportable sailing boat, completely in polyester. The boat has a great success and the following year the number of orders is huge. Some years after, Dufour Yachts launches “Arpège”, a revolutionary sailing boat which makes the brand famous and its boats required. In 1970 Micheal Dufour founds his own Design office and starts to industrialize the whole production to guarantee 300 units per year. The Dufour Yachts brand starts to export its models abroad and it becomes a leader in the nautical field. The 1971 is the birth year of the “Sortilège” boat and of the foundation of “Le Grand Pavois” nautical event. It’s a series of successes with the launch of the models: Dufour 35, 27, 33, 29, 1800 to name a few. During the ‘80s the partnership with Lacoste brand is followed by the launch of the Dufour 42 Lacoste, an elegant sailing boat  with luxury features and whose production is limited. It follows the Prestige line, completely oriented to the luxury field. During the ‘90s here we have the Dufour Classic line, which is completely equipped and comfortable inside and elegant outside. These boats are perfect for cruises and long sea journeys.

The ‘00s production

During the ‘00s, the Dufour Yachts brand starts sto cooperate with the famous nautical Italian designer Umberto Felci. The lines which follow this collaboration are: Dufour Performance, an elegant line created for regattas, and Dufour Grand Large dedicated to the cruises’ lovers.
